How do you decide who you want to work with, go to or buy from?

A doctor, a coach, a stylist, a photographer, a realtor?

Chances are, you look them up online first. You check their website. You probably scroll through their social media and you look at their photos.

You want to see who they are, get a feel for their work and personality, and see if you connect with them.

We all make decisions within seconds about whether we trust someone’s expertise, want to know more, or if we can see ourselves working with them.

So why do you think it’s different when it comes to your clients and your business?

How do you expect people to book you if they come to your website or Instagram and find no photos of you?

Or photos from five years ago that don’t look like you anymore. A low-light selfie. A photo of your cat. :)

Your potential clients are doing exactly what you do!

They’re checking you out before they ever contact you.

Reasons NOT to book a brand shoot.
This might sting a bit.

I hear a lot of them.

“I’m not ready yet.”
“I can create my own content.”
“I need to invest in other things first.”
“I hate photos of myself.”
“AI can do that now.”
“My services and products speak for themselves.”
“I don’t like putting myself out there.”

And I get it. Especially when you’re starting or growing a business and there are a million things competing for your time and money. I’m in the same boat.

But here’s the question I always ask myself and potential clients:

What is it costing you NOT to do it?

Your time has value. Potential clients finding you on social media has value. The trust they feel when they land on your website or profile has value.

And we all know people buy from people. So YOU are a pretty important part of your personal brand, and professional brand images make a pretty big difference when potential clients are deciding whether they want to work with YOU.

So I’m curious: Why are you not booking a brand shoot?

What does an Embodied Brand Experience™ actually look like?

For .deluxe it looked like London. Multiple locations. Different looks. A lot of movement, personality and yes, plenty of laughter along the way.

But the experience started long before we arrived in London.

We got clear on their brand, what they wanted the images to communicate, how they wanted to show up and what they actually needed the images for.

From there, we built the concept: creative directions, locations, wardrobe, strategic usage of the images.

So when shoot day came, we weren’t just walking around London hoping to create a few pretty pictures.

The goal is to create images that work for your brand AND feel like you at the same time.

That combination is exactly what I want an Embodied Brand Experience™ to be.

Strategic enough to give your business the images it needs.

Personal enough that you still recognize yourself in every one of them and your clients connect with you.

Funny how quickly your perspective can change when life forces you to slow down.

After my head injury, I keep telling people I would have taken a more subtle nudge.

But if I’m honest, I got plenty of subtle nudges and just ignored them.

The little aches and pains in my body?
“Oh well, that’s just part of getting older.”

The frustration I was feeling in my business?
“That’s just part of being a small business owner.”

Too much on my plate?
“That’s just how it is when you’re juggling two businesses, being a mom, a wife, a friend, a daughter…”

Getting triggered by my daughter?
“She’s getting older. That’s just part of it.”

There was always an explanation. And always something more important to do than actually stop and pay attention.

Then life quite literally hit me on the head.

15 stitches and a concussion later, I’ve had a lot of time to think about where my time and energy actually go. What I keep doing out of habit. And what I’m finally no longer available for at 51.

And I’m still adding to that list 😏

Things you’ll probably hear during a shoot with me…😂

And yes, #4 is VERY real. If I yell at you, it’s only because I can’t contain my excitement. If you’ve ever been in front of my camera, you know.

But #5 might actually be the most important one.

Because I can guide you, pose you, ‘fix’ the b***y and have you drop the shoulders all day long but your images still have to feel like you.

That’s always the goal for your personal brand shoot: more YOU in your brand.

Someone asked me yesterday: What do you mean by “Embodied” Brand Images?

And it’s a good question.

Because for me, personal brand photography is about so much more than creating professional photos.

Have you ever looked at your brand images and thought:

They’re okay, they’re professional, but somehow they don’t fully feel like you.

Maybe they show the version of you and your business from two years ago, not who you are now or where you’re going next.

That’s where the embodied part comes in.

Before your shoot, we go deep into your Brand Identity.

What makes you and your brand uniquely you?
How do you want to show up?
What do you want potential clients to feel when they come to your profile?
And who is that next-level version of you that you can already feel, but perhaps haven’t fully stepped into yet?

You don’t have to become someone new for your photoshoot. We activate what’s already there!

Through a guided visualization, you connect with that next-level version of you, and then you bring HER with you in front of the camera.

I don’t want to take your branding photos.

At least not the kind of branding photos we’ve all seen a hundred times :)

Laptop. Coffee cup. A few headshots.

I want to know who you are and what your business stands for. What you want people to feel when they come across your brand.

I want to know the side of you your clients already love but that somehow never seems to make it into your professional photos.

And then I want to turn all of that into images.

Images that are beautiful? Absolutely.

But also images that have personality. Intention. Energy.
Images that feel like you and make sense for your brand.

That’s the direction my own work has been moving in for quite some time.

And I finally have a name for the way I approach it:

The Embodied Brand Experience.

Embodied. Brand. Experience.

Every one of those words is there for a reason.
