Servers can make bank in a great restaurant with excellent clientele. However, that’s not the norm. It’s nice to see a restaurant finally take care of its employees. Being a server is NOT easy. I can tell you the servers at Red Lobster could palm 110lbs no problem; no matter how small or tall they are. Those trays with glasses alone is extremely heavy. Restaurant work is hard work.
They deserve every penny.
For anyone that says, “working in a restaurant is not meant to live on.” YES IT IS!! It’s called the LIVING minimum wage. Minimum wage was meant to be lived on for the basics. We can’t anymore. We allowed this to happen. Until we fight back and say, “NO MORE.” Nothing will change. Who is going to change it back, the rental folks or the companies? I say the rental folks should be forced to drop the prices of rent so that it may be afforded by minimum wage at 40 hours/week. That’s what it should be.
