⚠️🚙⚠️ Despite the warnings, hundreds of dogs in the U.S. die every year after being left in a hot car. Someone you know may need to read this very important message. ⚠️🚙⚠️

SIX MINUTES is all it takes for a dog to overheat in a hot car.

Your dog could suffer serious injury or die in a matter of minutes if left alone in a car.

• The temperature inside a closed vehicle left in the sun can double within 12 minutes.

• At least 75% of the temperature increase in a closed vehicle occurs within 5 minutes of closing the vehicle, and at least 89% of the temperature increase occurs within 15 minutes of closing the vehicle.

• Temperatures exceeding 104˚ F can lead to death or serious injury for the occupants.

• Temperatures in a closed vehicle sitting in the hot sun can reach 160˚F and above. An animal will suffer immeasurably and may die before the temperature reaches 150˚F.

• Even when parked in the shade, the vehicle temperatures can exceed 104˚C.

• Leaving windows down more than 2 inches on an unattended vehicle will not prevent a car from reaching extreme temperatures.

• Even if the animal is revived, they can die due to severe internal organ damage.

Your dog trusts you to have their best interest at heart ALWAYS.
Please don’t risk their safety.

If you are not taking your dog inside your destination with you, PLEASE leave them at home where they are comfortable and safe.

Busy weekend Bowser Ball tonight and Dog Lovers of Tarpon tomorrow. Can’t wait to see all the wonderful pups and their families!

Our dance card is packed full, how about yours? We're in Orlando for the 10th Annual Franklin's Friends Howl-O-Ween for Franklin's Friends. Check out Deagon, who just discovered the latest issue of THE NEW BARKER.

We'll be in New Port Richey for the Dog Costume Contest at Sims Park. We'll also be at Subaru of North Tampa for the Pet Food Drive and adoption event with Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center.

And THE NEW BARKER will be in Bushnell for the Fall Fun Day hosted by the Scottish Terrier Club of Tampa Bay. We're also at the Pet Costume Contest in Gulfport, hosted by Gulfport Beach Bazaar.

You'll find us snapping photos at the Belleair Country Club during this evening's Bowser and Catsino Ball, hosted by the Pinellas Animal Foundation. There is a Yappy Hour later today in Masaryktown at Itchy Belly Brewing Company.

Good to know!

This is an X-ray of a dog’s bent front leg. See that tiny white spec? That’s a microchip! It has migrated down the leg....far from where it was inserted, between the dog’s shoulders. This is actually quite common.....

When lost pets are scanned, the entire body SHOULD be scanned to catch any that have migrated. But, as an owner, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AT THEIR YEARLY VET EXAM, to ask for a quick scan to make sure that: (1) the chip is still working, (2) the location of the chip is good, and (3) that the chip info is correct.

Remember microchips save lives and reunite families with their pet.... just have it checked regularly!
