I worked on some dried floral art last night for a bit. I lasered off the top couple mms of this wood with a basic shape so that I could drop the florals down in it a bit. The round itself is about 18" for scale.

I'm in a rut.

Creative rut? Business rut? Both. I'm not sure.

I know whenever we have extended busy periods with high public contact/interaction it takes a significant toll on me quickly.

I know I am easily worn down by the constant demands to "show up or else" from other humans who don't realize I'm just an artist trying to make art. Not an encyclopedia or Google for the craft world.

But I also know the only real answer is just time apart. I've focused on our home, our garden and our family the last several weeks. My angel of a husband has kept the background balls rolling with our regular website orders.

I don't know when I'll be back to making regular content. I don't know if I'll continue with hats. I just know I can't force it, for the sake of my art and my mental health.

In an effort to "do something" I'm cleaning out my shelves of old work. So if you've been eyeing a finished hat, watch the Summer Sale. They are all heavily discounted to move so I can focus on what's next.

After months of renovating part of our backyard into our own oasis, we finally finished it this weekend. We got to celebrate with all of our family and friends last night and enjoy hosting despite the 10000 degree weather 🙃. We are out for one more day, but we will be back in the office tomorrow!
