Grief is a strange thing.
Some years it knocks the wind out of you. Other years it quietly sits beside you all day, reminding you who's missing.
Today is my dad's birthday, and it's always one of the hardest days of my year. Usually I'd hide away and just wait for the day to end.
Instead, life had other plans.
Jade Marie and Emily June dragged me out into the sun for a beach shoot... and let's just say the sun understood the assignment. We were absolutely cooked. If anyone asks, we're now medium-well with a slight chance of crispy. 😂
As hot as it was, I wouldn't change a thing.
The laughs, the conversations, the memories... they reminded me that it's okay to smile, even on the hard days.
So thank you both for giving me something I didn't even know I needed today.
Happy Birthday, Dad.
I love you. I miss you. Not a day goes by that I don't think about you.
