As a freshman in high school, Clint Musser publicly stated he wanted to become a 4-time state champion.
This was something that had never been done in the Ohio big school division, in which Walsh Jesuit competed.
And in his first two seasons it looked like he may just do it.
In 1991, he won an OT decision in the state finals as a freshman and then cruised to a second state title in 1992.
However, the next year, Musser ran into a hammer in the returning state champion, Jonathan Vaughn.
Vaughn prevailed 8-4 in the state finals, preventing Musser from fulfilling his dream.
Musser came back better than ever the next year, motivated by the loss.
He went on to win his third state title, a high school national title, and was considered the top recruit in the country by many.
After high school, Clint wrestled for Penn State, where he was a 2x All-American and finished as the NCAA runner-up in 1999.
Post-college, Musser won a Pan American silver medal, briefly competed in MMA, and had a successful coaching career at several high schools and colleges.
