Before a single client walks in the door, this is what happens. This is the quiet part of a shoot day nobody usually sees. I set up the whole studio this way on purpose so by the time you arrive, everything is ready and all you have to do is show up. We take care of the rest: hair, makeup, wardrobe, the whole experience. "That's a lot of money to spend on myself."

I hear this constantly, and it's almost always from women. Rarely from men. We're so used to spending on everyone else first, kids, partners, gifts, family, that spending on ourselves feels indulgent, even wrong.
Here's the thing. This isn't about vanity. It's about pouring back into yourself so you have something left to give everyone else. And if the cost feels like the real sticking point, payment plans exist for exactly that reason. You don't have to pay it all at once. Most of my clients spread it out and barely think about it after.

So I showed her exactly what I show every woman who says that to me. One small shift in the pose, the light, the angle, and suddenly she’s not hiding, she’s glowing.

This is the part of my job I love most. Not the camera. The moment right after, when she sees herself and goes quiet for a second because she wasn’t expecting that.

If you’ve ever looked in the mirror and picked yourself apart before a photo even happens, I promise you, it’s not your body that’s the problem. It’s that no one’s ever shown you how good you actually look.

Fun fact: hair and makeup is not actually about the hair and makeup. It’s an hour and a half where someone else does all the work, you get to just sit there, and somehow by the end we’ve covered your ex, your job, and possibly your grandma’s DNA. No topic is off limits, I don’t know what to tell you.

By the time the camera comes out we’re not strangers, we’re basically best friends who happen to be doing a photoshoot. 💕
