Some places are remembered not just for their architecture, but for the meaning they carry.

Standing beneath the dome of St. Peter’s Cathedral in Trier, Germany, my eyes were first drawn to the crucifix—Jesus on the cross, the central symbol of the Christian faith. Above it, centuries of craftsmanship rise toward the heavens, while sunlight quietly paints the stone with color. Together, the cross, the light, and the architecture tell a story of sacrifice, hope, and the enduring faith that inspired this remarkable cathedral.

I’m incredibly grateful that this jellyfish image has been recognized in the 2026 ReFocus Color Photography Contest, receiving both the People’s Vote Award and an Honorable Mention in the Underwater category.

Thank you to everyone who voted, supported my work, and has followed along on this journey. Your encouragement means more than you know and continues to inspire me to keep creating and sharing the natural world through photography.

This recognition is one milestone in what I hope is a long journey, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.
