Ralph Schudel is a professional photographer from Columbus, Ohio. His post-secondary studies placed an emphasis on Journalism and Communications during his tenure at The Ohio State University and Franklin University. During his time as a Buckeye, Schudel fell in love with writing and learned he had a passion for photography. Expanding on his educational background, Ralph launched his personal webs
ite in November 2016. He was subsequently hired by Vox Media in 2017 to cover the Columbus Crew for SB Nation's Massive Report. He also photographs for International Soccer Network and Columbus Wired. Schudel was admitted as a member of the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) in Spring 2018. In addition to soccer, Ralph has experience covering Major League Lacrosse, Ohio State Football, Basketball, Hockey, Pro Volleyball Federation, and the PGA Tour. In Fall 2018, he joined the athletic department at Ohio Dominican University, working with the women's soccer program as its Brand Manager and Assistant Coach.
Following a successful stint with the women's soccer program, he was hired into the Sports Information office as an intern.
In the Fall 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, he became the Graduate Assistant Sports Information Director at Ohio Dominican University where he remained in that position until June 2022 when he completed his Masters Degree in Sport Management.
Following his departure from ODU, Schudel joined Columbus Academy to assist with Athletic Communications and Operations, expanding on a role he started in August 2021. He was named Athletic Coordinator in August 2023. He also served as a substitute teacher at the school. In Spring 2024, Schudel moved to the Ohio Department of Public Safety where he works in the Director’s Office specializing in visual communications assisting the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Emergency Management Agency, Ohio Emergency Management Services, Office of Criminal Justice Services, Ohio Homeland Security, Ohio State Highway Patrol, ONIC, Ohio School Safety Center, and Ohio Traffic Safety. Schudel has been featured in many local and regional publications as well as national publications like TheNew York Times, Sports Illustrated and Vogue.
