The McCords!!

The energy is palpable! Had SO much fun documenting Madi & Bailey’s wedding this past weekend at Jorgensen Oak Grove. The tulips?? Gorgeous. Madi?? Stunning. Barbie reincarnated. I loved every second of this day and can’t wait to share the whole gallery! (these are just a fraction of the previews)

My heart always beats fast at this point… but I know I will get every shot 😎

Also, about my focus mode:

In this situation (indoor with flash), I chose to use point focus mode and manually click on my subject’s face to ensure I get who I want in focus. In my experience, if I rely on facial tracking, the focus has a chance of grabbing onto a guest’s face instead of the bride’s (or whoever I am aiming for). Using point focus has proven to be the most reliable method for me, however when I shoot portraits the rest of the day, I usually stick to facial tracking!

Remember: settings are not a one size fits all, so these settings can’t exactly be copied/replicated - but it does help give perspective into how I shoot different scenarios. For my style, I prefer to keep the aperture low (unless I need more in focus, like group shots and detail photos), shutter never below 1/300 (unless I am getting intentionally blurry shots), and ISO under 1000 (unless the low light demands a higher number, but then I will pop on a flash).

(p.s. I went to their shop in Columbus and got to pick/personalize these two scents specifically for my clients!!)

- Secret gift that only my clients get to know… but just know it is very special 🤍

- A wedding planning booklet written by me with checklists, planning tips, and pretty photos to get them excited about their own wedding!!

I’m in the process of creating a few new pieces to add into future boxes to keep things a surprise, but I wanted to share this little peek into my client experience!

Tough lighting is hard to edit but I loved this portrait too much to give up on it! The eyedropper tool fixed up the white balance pretty good, although I had to make some minor adjustments to the temp/tint. But truly, the real trick here is my retouching presets - brightening up the shadows on the skin, eyes, and bringing color to the lips is how I get rid of the shadowy, gray cast in odd lighting.

Guys I was the biggest skeptic… but why do I lowkey kind of love it

Pixieset is what I use to deliver all of my client’s galleries, but they are literally becoming a full-fledge platform for photographers. Website hosting, client management, online print store, and now EDITING??

I will be so honest with you, when Pixieset reached out to me to test out their editing software, I originally told them no 🫣 but curiosity got to me and I played around with it a little… and I was blown away. It is shockingly similar to the Adobe platforms I use daily but a fraction of the price, plus included AI culling and editing.

So what do you think?
