The countdown to the wedding is officially on. šŸ˜šŸ’

I loved hanging out with Jack and Nicole for their engagement photos this past weekend. Nicole loves timeless images filled with movement, connection, and even a few intentionally blurred moments that capture the joy of their relationship.

We explored some of my favorite spots at Centennial Park, including the Parthenon, the willow tree, and the beautiful Sunken Gardens.

These two traveled from Indiana for their engagement session and will be making the trip back next June for their wedding at Passerine Hills Estate. Which means we're officially less than a year away from saying "I do!" šŸŽ‰

I already know their wedding day is going to be such a joyful one, and I can't wait to celebrate alongside them.

The Bach Club šŸ˜

Loved capturing these fun bachelorette photos for Samantha and her friends this past weekend. You can never go wrong with the Downtown Nashville skyline, denim and cowboy hats.

If your brand photos feel awkward, I’d guess the posing is the issue. šŸ’šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøšŸ˜¬

When I’m working with my Nashville branding clients, I never leave posing up to chance, because how your client feels in front of the camera shows in every single shot.

Here are 3 small posing tweaks I guide every client through during a session:

1ļøāƒ£ Too stiff? I get them moving- walking slowly, flipping through a planner, even adjusting a prop. Natural movements makes a huge difference.

2ļøāƒ£ What do I do with my hands? Hold coffee mugs, glasses, laptops, or even give a simple gesture while they talk. So many of my clients have what I call ā€œBarbie handsā€ or clenched fists because they are nervous in front of the camera. These small tweaks help them relax their hands so they look confident and natural.

3ļøāƒ£ Same angle every shot? Nope. I coach micro-adjustments to body angles and head positioning the entire time. Subtle shifts = more dynamic and usable images in the final gallery.

If you’re a photographer pivoting into branding, SAVE this for your next session. Your clients will thank you (and your portfolio will look šŸ”„ too).

P.S. Nashville business owner? If you want brand photos that feel like you (with direction every step of the way) I’ve got you. DM me and let’s chat!

I was voice messaging one of my favorite fellow business owners the other day (shoutout .c ) about the ebbs and flows of running a business.

We chatted about the highs, the slow seasons, the pivots… all the things that can affect business owners. She shared those stats about entrepreneurship and I couldn’t help but reflect on how I’ve been in this space for over a decade now, and full-time since 2019.

I’ve seen what it takes to keep going, and not just in my own business. I’ve watched so many of my branding clients build opportunities, rebuild when things didn’t go as planned, push through seasons that would’ve been easier to walk away from, and also celebrate the biggest milestones, financial wins and achievements.

So here’s my note for the small business owner today:

20% of small businesses don’t make it past year one, and 50% don’t make it to year five.

If you’re still here figuring it out, showing up, paving a way, pivoting when needed, building the brand, selling, and running your business...

You’re doing something that most people don’t, and you are wildly resilient.

Keep going. You’re doing better than you think.

A note for my fellow creatives: Forget ā€œAI Slop,ā€ I’m more concerned about my own brain rot if I allow myself to be creatively lazy.

As a full-time creative, I know people pay for my strategic brain and my creative heart.

In a world that seems so quick to outsource its writing, visuals and creativity to a machine, here are ā€œhuman onlyā€ ways I cultivate creativity in my own life and business to flex that muscle and not lose my ability to create.

āœ”ļøPottery classes
āœ”ļøGenerate my own photography and videography
āœ”ļøGardening
āœ”ļøWalking outside
āœ”ļøReading
āœ”ļøWrite without feeding a prompt to Chat or asking Chat to make it better
āœ”ļøIdeation with my own little brain (and maybe crowd sourcing with friends, not a robot)

I’ll keep doing what I want more of. If I want more human words on my feed, I’m going to write more first. If I hope to never see an AI generated image again, I’m going to keep visually creating. If I want more authentic connections with fellow creatives, I’m going to go out on a limb first and voice how I feel.

Our creativity and strategy are sacred. Superpowers to harness, and not skills to atrophy.

As more and more people turn away from ā€œAI Slopā€ā€¦ there’s a growing demand for human-centered words, art and creativity.

Lean in. Flex your creative muscles. Cultivate your creativity.
