We love Dr. Folia — congrats!
Dear friends,
I’m excited to announce that we have hired Dr. Michelle Folta to be Director of Music at Trinity Church. She will begin her duties here on October 1. Michelle is well known in the music community here in Columbus and around the world. She brings a depth of knowledge, creativity, energy and excitement to her work with others in making music. She is a joy to be around! She is the right person to continue our excellence in music here, and she will be a wonderful addition to our Trinity family.
Joseph Golden will continue to lead our music program until the end of the year. Joseph, Michelle, and Aesook will work together as a team to create a smooth transition.
I’m grateful for the dedicated and efficient work of our search committee: John Shinkle (chair), Debbie Lane, Katherine Waddell, Justus Armstrong, Kendon Johnson, and Rem Houser.

“Dr. Michelle Folta is professor of choral and general music education at Columbus State University and the artistic director for the Voices of the Valley Children’s Chorus.
Graduates of Dr. Folta have earned a variety of honors including school teachers of the year, district finalists for teacher of the year, selected ensembles for statewide music education conferences, as well as local and statewide honors.
Under Dr. Folta’s direction, Voices of the Valley has performed local, national and international tours, at Carnegie Hall, St. Peter’s Basilica, the Georgia Music Educators Association Conference, and the ACDA Southern Division Conference.
Dr. Folta is president-elect of Georgia chapter of the American Choral Directors Association and currently serves as repertoire and resources chair for children’s choirs. She was a finalist for the GRAMMY Music Educator of the Year Award, winner of the CSU Faculty Service Award, and named Columbus’ 5 Under 40.”
Dr. Folta resides in Columbus, Georgia with her husband, Zach, and her daughter, Lena.”
