Went to an event by Zay Monaee. The best organized, mindful, and friendliest photowalk I’ve been on ever. Her event came across my feed and so I signed up. Looks like she has these walks monthly. Her intent is to not only bring photographers together but actively “see” communities through cultural street level engagement.

Met at the MLK Memorial in Compton City Hall and I could immediately tell this one’s going to be different. Check in table was quick and friendly. There was music blaring. Raffle tickets distributed. Matcha vendor. Just a loving community atmosphere.

Tour route was about 2 miles. Water was distributed throughout via a pacer car. They had a pacer car! Stops along the way to rest and grab a group photo. Give away raffle draws at beginning, middle and end.

At the end, she had arrCompton Museumee at the Compton Museum (you can buy fiRaising Cane'sdors El Puentesito :)e's and El Puentesito 🙂, and live music via a DJ.
