Sometimes the medicine isn’t found in grand answers or fixing everything at once. Sometimes it is found on a cracked asphalt road, two dogs pulling gently ahead on their leashes, and a hillside of late-summer wildflowers stubbornly blooming out of bare moss and rock.

During Su***de Prevention Month, we talk a lot about reaching out, speaking up, and surviving the storm. But in the quiet trenches of day-to-day life, healing often looks much simpler and far more grounded. It looks like house sitting in a quiet pocket of the woods. It looks like stepping out into the humid morning air because two souls need their walk, and realizing that their simple biological rhythm—wake, walk, eat, rest—is holding yours together, too.

Animals don’t worry about tomorrow’s plans or yesterday’s heavy baggage. They anchor us directly to the pavement beneath our shoes. Walking them teaches you that you don’t have to carry the whole world today; you just have to take the next step. You just have to witness the green canopy, notice the goldenrod peeking through the slate, and breathe the air that belongs to this exact moment.

Looking out over the ridge line this morning reminded me: life doesn't demand that you have it all figured out. It just asks you to stay for the next view. To stay for the quiet mornings, the warm cup of coffee, the tail wags, and the wild growth that refuses to quit even on the rocky edges.
If you are carrying weight that feels too heavy right now, lay down what doesn’t belong to you. Let the earth hold your steps. Take the simple routines, borrow the grounded peace of the creatures who love you, and just stay. 🌿💛

Putting one foot in front of the other on a quiet neighborhood road with two rescue powerhouses—Zeus and Kalei—is where theory meets reality. 🐾✨

September is National Su***de Prevention Month, and taking part in the annual Out of the Darkness virtual walk isn’t about hitting a one-day 5K finish line. It is the steady, daily momentum of moving forward, mile by mile, right alongside my live-in stewardship routine.

Walking these two incredible bully breeds while house-sitting gives real structure to the days. Bully breeds and rescues teach you everything about presence: they don’t live in past regret or future anxiety; they respond to clear boundaries, calm leadership, and being fully grounded in their bodies right now.

That biological connection is why upstream education matters so much:

* Somatic Reality: When someone reaches extreme nervous system collapse, telling them to "just reach out" ignores biological reality. Acute dorsal-vagal shutdown strips away the cognitive energy needed to initiate contact.

* The High-Risk Trades: Construction and high-stress operational trades face some of the highest su***de rates in the country. Stoic silence and chronic physical strain take an invisible toll. Upstream initiatives like the AFSP's Hard Hat Courage bring mental health "Toolbox Talks" directly onto job sites before a crisis occurs.

* Upstream Safety Nets: Tangible community programs—like Talk Saves Lives, adolescent mental health tools in schools (More Than Sad), and direct peer-to-peer survivor support (Healing Conversations)—build safety nets in living rooms, break rooms, and neighborhoods long before an emergency room is ever needed.

Every step taken on these morning walks honors my dad, John Turner, breaks down the silence around silent battles, and supports the life-saving work of the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention.

Whether it’s rolling in the grass, checking out a hollow log, or catching sight of an early yard skeleton, life keeps offering small reminders to pause, breathe, and stay anchored.

If you or someone in your orbit is struggling, please know you do not have to carry the weight alone. Call or text 988 for the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline—it is free, confidential, and available 24/7.

The wonderful sounds of David Cupano playing today. W**e tasting wonderful, tomato, basil pizza. Gloria‘s birthday was yesterday. My mom‘s birthday was August 24 so kind of celebrated both. Along with a lot of other people that seem to have birthdays lol! Wonderful crowd, everybody singing along, dancing even! I have lots of videos to process they’ll be up within the next couple days. For now enjoy the pictures.

I checked into Harding PA today and I’m here for two weeks. Lots of adventures to be had.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year💀👻🎃🍂🍁

For decades, I lived inside the exhausting loop of the INTJ savior contract - believing that if I just analyzed the data hard enough, mapped the trauma timelines, and solved the puzzle of someone else's brokenness, I could bring everything back to the start. When you fuse high-masking neurodivergence (ADHD/AuDHD) with open intuitive clairs and a triple Sagittarius fire engine, your nervous system lacks standard filtering. You do not just enter a room; you register every unspoken tension, every incongruence, and every systemic glitch before a single word is spoken.

The great awakening of my Chiron return has been stepping completely out of the laboratory. Just because your mind perceives a pattern does not make you responsible for transmuting the weight of it. Observation is not an assignment. My latest Substack essay dives deep into the reality of late diagnoses, pattern-recognition survival mechanisms, and why Coldplay's "The Scientist" was the soundtrack to an experiment that is finally over.
