About Photo Editing: Something in this first picture doesn’t belong.... or does it?

When you are working with any form of photography, whether you’re working with a specific subject or various landscapes, having a focal point is what creates a compelling image.

I wanted give Jesse a canvas print as a gift for his recent move, and I told him to send me his favorite picture from his recent trip to Arizona.

The 2nd photo is what he sent me, and for the sake of the print, I knew it needed a focal point. So, I referred back to a Snapchat he sent me of a beautiful Saguaro Cactus (3rd picture in the set).

Using Photoshop and Lightroom, I was able to create the final product. Swipe to see the different elements and finished 16x20 print on the wall!

For this photo, I created a blurred background by isolating the background, completely reducing the clarity, adding haze, reducing the sharpness, and adding noise reduction. So, if you ever want to add a blurred background, try it out!

Photoshoots with friends are always a good time! Even when we almost get rained out.

Side note: Usually I steer my attention away from super grainy pictures when I edit. We ran out to the marsh after the storm to utilize the little bit of sunlight we had left. Which naturally resulted in some grainy pictures and me fighting with my camera settings every 5 minutes. But, when I pulled some of these up, I really loved the vintage vibes a few were giving off, so I added them anyways!
