While walking the trails in Kentucky we came across this cage with a chain an a chair inside. The leather on the chair was fresh an didn’t look too old. Which made me super curious?

After doing some research it says it is, an old standalone iron jail cell, frequently referred to as a "calaboose" or freestanding cage lockup.Historically manufactured in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by specialized prison equipment companies (such as the Pauly Jail Building Company), these portable steel cells were deployed as temporary town lockups, holding cells for unruly prisoners, or outdoor punishment cages at work camps and road prisons. They were designed to provide a highly secure, weather-resistant enclosure that could be left entirely standalone or easily bolted inside a basic wooden or brick shelter.‼️(According to google)
