π¦ Mental health post ...a little long and it might get a little heavy but I promise not to get into any details to avoid triggers. π«Ά I've been hesitating to post these words and keep rewriting everything I say, so now, I'm just gonna post before I add or rewrite anything else. π¦
Butterflies, for me, have always been a reminder of hope, growth through the struggle, and letting go.
I love this capture of a Tiger Longwing Butterfly. When I saw this particular one, I immediately noticed a semicolon on its wings.
A semicolon is widely known as a symbol for those who have struggled with depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, addiction, and trauma. In literature, it is used when an author could have ended a sentence but chose not to. Your story isn't over. π€
I have struggled with mental health my entire life. It is alot better now than it ever has been but I still have dark days.
I don't talk too much anymore about my past, as I feel like I have enough already. Not many listened. There was and still is stigma around mental health, so I struggled alot alone. It was hard to find the help I needed and was put on alot of unnecessary meds. I am no longer on a self destructive path though and I learned to just focus on my healing journey and have started to find some peace.
I do still struggle when darkness creeps in every now and then but my little family brings me back every time. I just take the moments as they come...not even taking it one day at a time, but more like one breath at a time.
Sometimes I really have to slow it down and that's where my love and passion come in for photography πΈ π It can be an expensive hobby. But it has been the best therapy.
If you need help, please reach out. I know it's easier said than done, but please don't give up. Keep going. You are loved and needed more than you think. You are important. You are enough. π«Άβ¨οΈππ¦
