The way photos can be used online has changed — and I think the way we share them should change, too.
AI technology has made it easier than ever for photographs found online to be copied, altered and used in ways they were never intended. With growing concerns surrounding AI-generated imagery involving children, I don’t want the photographs I share to ever put a child at unnecessary risk.
Going forward, I’ll be much more intentional about showing identifiable images of children on my website and social media.
This doesn’t change the way I photograph families. I’ll still capture the faces, expressions and moments you want to remember, and you’ll receive those photographs in your private gallery.
It simply changes what I choose to make public.
You’ll see more little hands, movement, silhouettes, kids running through the mountains, connection and all the beautiful pieces of childhood that can tell a story without showing a child’s identity.
I can photograph childhood without making a child’s face part of my marketing — and protecting the kids I photograph will always matter more than a post.
