I had an awesome time this weekend at the Texas Photography Festival. I was honored to be a Featured Photographer, and had some great visitors stop by at my display. Thank you Bailey Mayfield Ayres for supporting my addiction to an expensive hobby. Also, special thanks to The Texas Photography Festival for the opportunity, to The Daytripper for hosting my display at The Daytripper World Headquarters, and to Art Direct for the wonderful prints. Shout out to Images by Kamil Rizvi for the awesome portrait!

Awakening

A dense fog had settled low against the ground as the sun began its ascent, a gradient of orange emerging and silhouetting the bare winter trees.

Continuum

From an elevated vantage point, the chain of islands disappears into the distance, where ocean and sky merge and the horizon fades. A single road winds through them, guiding the eye forward and inviting the viewer to come along. Together, the road and islands suggest a landscape without a clear endpoint, inviting movement through a space that feels as though it continues well beyond what can be seen.

Shallow Waters

At a distance, the image resists definition. Layers of blue shift across the frame, shaped by changing depth and what lies beneath the surface. Upon deeper study, the water reveals its structure, an abstraction formed by shallow seas and the reef below.

Cathedral

Out of the tranquil turquoise waters, massive rock walls ascend on either side, enclosing the space and drawing the eye upward toward the light above. The deep chamber fills with the sound of distant waves, leaving its occupants in a sense of awe.

Emerging

Barely above the surface, a narrow strip of land breaks through the blue waters. From it, three palm trees rise, marking the beginning of life in a place that itself barely exists. Fragile and exposed, yet enduring.

Threshold

A series of boulders, ranging in size from small to massive, marks the threshold where land gives way to sea. Here, the water navigates through natural barriers, its movement moderated as it works inland toward the sandy beach.

Anchored

Layers of blue draw the eye from open water to shore and back again, with a catamaran anchored nearby. Though the island is still isolated by the surrounding sea, its presence offers a sense of security. Both the land and the boat remain alone, yet the solitude is softened by the quiet reassurance that the land is there, steady and enduring.
