Early spring senior session!

I’ve had the privilege of photographing all kinds of family memories—from births to graduates to weddings and so many moments in between. But senior sessions are always really special to me.
There’s something about standing in that moment with someone who’s right on the edge of the rest of their life. I try to gather up as much of it as I can—the excitement, the years of hard work, the childhood that just quietly wrapped up—and hand it back as images that capture their different sides. The humor, the confidence, the quiet parts. The person they are right now, and little glimpses of who they’re becoming.
And almost always just off to the side, there’s a mom. Arms full of outfits and props that somehow perfectly reflect her kid. Watching it all with a brave face, knowing this moment means something.
Sometimes I wish I could turn the camera around for just a second and give her the same thing I’m giving her child—a reflection of all the years that led to this moment.
And just quietly say… well done, momma.
