Sofia wanted to do some fun shots of her and her friends to celebrate their upcoming graduation from SMU with their Masters in Real Estate. I LOVE celebrating women doing amazing things and having fun while they’re at it, with their girlfriends beside them. What made this shoot extra special is that I did Sofia’s high school graduation photos for her back in 2020 during the height of the pandemic. I was so excited she contacted me to capture this special milestone! I wish these smart and beautiful ladies all the best as they head toward their dreams.

A photographer friend referred the Mills family to me for their session after she got injured and needed someone to step in. Sometimes life threatens to get in the way of family photos. They were such a joy to work with! The weather cooperated with us too and gave us a beautiful sunny day after some recent storms.

I have to say I was very worried on my way to Bella’s session because the sky was dark and threatening rain, thanks to springtime in Texas. We got lucky though and the rain held out until the very end. We even got about 5 minutes of random sunshine! Hopefully through some editing magic her photos will match her warm and sunny personality. She is just the sweetest girl, and I loved photographing her!

Lily brought some special things to her session. She wore her great-grandmother’s ring that she received for her own graduation. It’s been passed down to the female graduates ever since. She was also joined by some very special friends that have been with her from the beginning… her baby blanket and her unicorn and puppy stuffed animals. Oh my heart. Seeing her mom’s tears as we photographed Lily with them really got me. My own daughter (my “baby”) graduates next year, so Mama, I feel you. Here are some of my favorites from our time together.

I loved everything about this session! The magical light, sweet Rylee and her mom, and the feeling of collaboration to capture a milestone moment in time. Rylee doesn’t always like to smile in photos, so I loved watching her beautiful smile emerge more and more. There’s something that feels triumphant about watching a person leaving a photo session feeling more beautiful, confident and empowered than when they arrived. The icing on the cake was when her big sister, who is stationed in the Air Force, happened to call Mom toward the end of the session. When Mom turned her phone around to show her Rylee having her photos taken, she started crying and saying how beautiful she looked. Soon there were tears all around. Such a sweet moment that I was happy to witness and share❤

It’s been 6 years since I’ve photographed the Fortner family. The kids have changed so much! Now Elizabeth, the youngest, is graduating high school. Time flies. She’s smart, confident and spunky and I’m sure she’ll accomplish whatever she sets her mind to as she goes toward her future.

It had been TEN years since I’d seen the Senen family! The kids were so little and now Ethan is graduating high school! That smiley little boy is now a super smart, quiet young man on his way to a very successful future. The same tricks I used to get him to smile for the camera as a boy didn’t quite work this time, but when I told him his mom wanted some smiling photos he was happy to oblige for her. So happy I got to see this sweet family again (even though it made me feel very old)!

I love this awesome family! We've had many sessions throughout the years outdoors in nature, with the boys being... boys, and distracted by a cool stick or a squirrel lol. Our last session was in a field full of longhorns. This year was our first session together in a studio. Everyone was dressed up and the boys... were so grown up and... quiet, like our surroundings. It was different from our usual situation, but it was also nice to stretch ourselves and try something new. It's kind of bittersweet when little clients grow up. I think everyone looked fabulous and that we captured some Christmas magic!

Love, love, love the Habermans! They're easy going and fun, and feel more like family than clients after working with them for so many years. Our first try at photos this year had to be rescheduled because it literally started raining the minute I arrived at our location. Ugh. Thankfully, the second time was the charm with a beautiful clear day and a nice breeze for us!
