THE MAGIC OF SANTA ®

Briggs is four years old and has been visiting Santa since he was just a baby. Every year he walks into the studio with the same big smile and the same excited little whisper of “ho ho.” Watching him grow from tiny toddler to this sweet and curious little boy has been one of the best parts of our Christmas season.

This tradition means the world to him and honestly to us too. Moments like this are why we do what we do.

Why so quiet?

Because we’ve been quietly building—behind the scenes, late nights, early mornings—laying the foundation for something bigger than we’ve ever done before.

Truthfully, I’ve never worked this hard on the business side of things. It’s exhausting, and honestly, I miss just creating. But we’re pushing into next-level marketing, strategy, and systems that will ultimately serve you better and me.

At this point in my career, I never thought I’d be doing this kind of work. But the industry is changing, and we either evolve or get left behind.

What I’ve learned lately is that the struggle isn’t because we’re not good enough—it’s because the path isn’t always clear. So we’re carving a new one.

Hard Work, Growth, and a New Chapter Ahead

Today, I received the news that one of my portraits earned the highest score in the TPPA Annual Image Competition for a child’s portrait, officially securing Texas Portrait of a Child for the third year in a row.

I don’t share this for the title—I share it because it represents something I care deeply about: getting better.

Every year, I enter competition not to win, but to grow. To challenge myself, refine my skills, and hold my work to a higher standard. It keeps me sharp. It keeps me honest. And it makes me a better artist—and a better educator.

I’m someone who works hard, stays curious, and genuinely loves to teach. And I’m excited to pour that energy into something new.

Later this week, I’ll be announcing a brand new Fine Art Children’s Portrait Masterclass. It’s a 4-month program, limited to just 12 students, where we’ll dive deep into creating work like the images below—from concept to completion.

Each student will finish the course with their own fine art portraits, worthy of portfolios, galleries, and competitions—but more importantly, they’ll gain the confidence and skill to keep creating long after the class ends.
