We got home this afternoon at about 4:00pm, Mom said her chest was hurting and it was hurting through her arm. She said the nurse told her to call 911, so I called. The EMTs got here and checked her out and I rode to the hospital with her in the ambulance. We got there and they ran an EKG and said it didn't look like she had a heart attack, but they wanted to do some blood tests and a Chest CT. They gave her some pain meds and her blood pressure medication. Of course her blood sugar was high also. As we were waiting for the CT Scan she said she was hot and kicked off her covers, then she said she was going to throw up. I went to get some help and she came in and gave Mom a bag and said she was going to get her nurse, Mom was coherent and talking to her. She barely closed the door and walked out and Mom started convulsing, I ran out and got people's attention. The doctor came in and asked if she had a history of seizures, I said no but her Mom had several strokes. They moved us into a bigger room and they were trying to figure out what happened, during that process she had a massive heart attack, they said they were calling the cardiologist because they were going to need to get her to the Cath lab ASAP. She wasn't breathing on her own and they asked me to talk to her and then step out while they intubated her. I left the room in a haze and someone directed me to a chair in the hallway. The doctor came out and told me she was not doing very well, but they were trying to get her stable to take her to the cathlab. She went back in the room to see if she was stable for me to come in. A few minutes later the doctor came out and explained the Cathlab procedure to me and let me know that her heart was not beating and asked if I wanted to come in to see what they were doing to try to get her back. She was intubated and they were using a machine to do compressions. They were giving her several meds to try to get her back. The doctor was talking to the cardiologist on the phone while she was trying to get to us. The doctor came over and asked if I wanted to hold her hand while they tried the last 2 times to get her back.... They were not able to revive her, her heart was just too weak...... I tried to call as many family and friends as possible before my phone died... I can't believe she is gone.
