I always look forward to catching up with your daughter Gayla. I will never forget when she brought the quilt she was working on with her grandma to the session. It was cemented then she was one of the ones I look forward to.

So, I couldn't help but get curious back to when we first met. Just as fabulous as ever.

Going to tell it like it is. I am overwhelmed this season. So much chaos and uncertainty in my main campus has me discombobulated everywhere, new booking software that is driving me crazy, an incoming 6th grader & senior, college applications, maintaining the garden in this drought, and you know that little thing called the day job has me seriously questioning my sanity in offering these sessions. But this, watching these babies grow, is what I struggle letting go of. The 2023/2024 school year will be my 10th year of offering these sessions. I got to at least make it to that milestone, yes?

Another year of construction on campus necessitates a new rhythm around Back to School sessions. It feels like a choose your own adventure storybook.

Most (including myself) are waiting out the construction but some are allowing me to create magic.

There is something serendipitous about photographing children at home where they are masters of the universe. Jana I am so very glad we made this happen. - xo Monica

Four more Mondays until summer break.

I'm most excited for a space to gather. For a space where we make memories that can only be made when we are removed from the routines we strap onto ourselves. Memories that only can be made when we swap the "have to's" with the "want to's".

This space is not about putting on airs. There is a room without a door (yet). Wallpaper that is so outdated it [may] just come back into style by the time we get around to replacing it. In process projects that are whittled away one weekend (and Evernote notebook) at a time.

This home is about gathering purposefully.

This year my campus is under construction. Think walkways of plywood, blue tarp walls, digging new sidewalks and sometimes work trucks parked in the walkup of the school. It's been interesting and every morning I don't know what I'm going to adapt to.

BUT sometimes you get the best surprise and there happens to be a school bus just for your Auction Winner. Lindsay Morgan thank you for supporting our school!!!

PS my clients are seriously the best. Everyone I apologize to tells me the same thing. "I'm not worried, I trust you." You guys are TRULY the best.
