Rather exciting news for Rapid Aerial Imaging - yesterday we received our FAA waiver to operate over people AND over people at night. There's only 150 or so in the entire US that have the "flight over people" waiver. For flight over people at night? Rapid Aerial Imaging is now one of ten - that's 1 of 10 - in the entire country authorized to fly over people - at night!

As one of the country's premier provider of aerial imaging, we get some interesting projects from time-to-time. Last week, a public corruption story rocked the Ohio political landscape. Rapid Aerial Imaging was asked by the Dayton Daily News to cover the scene. Attached are a couple of photos from that assignment. The Ohio Speaker of The House (at least for now), Larry Householder's residence in Perry County, scene of an early morning FBI raid after a year-long $60M bribery investigation.

Even with 32 years of active involvement in aviation as a commercial pilot and flight instructor, there's always something interesting to learn. Several weeks ago I got a call from Brandon McCloud of the Tri-State Skywalkers asking if I would be interested in presenting to their group of Powered Paraglider enthusiasts. These guys were quite aware they frequently operate in, and share the same airspace as UAV operators. These guys were some of the most enthusiastic aviators I've met - check their page out! I had an interesting experience with the FAA a few months ago. Generally, when the FAA shows up or calls, they're not calling to help, but in this case it was pretty funny. Seems as though a competitor in our area blew off a complaint by a concerned non-participant at an event at Austin Landing when they were operating their UAV over the crowd. Apparently the individual didn't appreciate the operator's disregard of the rules and proceeded to register their complaint with the Cincinnati FAA FSDO. Apparently the operator (we know who you are) didn't want to be investigated a second time by the FAA, so they told the FAA Rapid Aerial was the operator. The problem is, Rapid Aerial was 1,200 miles away working on another project! It's really unfortunate, but it's this kind of nonsense that is driving Remote ID.
