Sorry I haven't been around much. This flu has just wiped me out. But last night I rallied enough to attend an event at The Dayton Woman's Club. It was the history of early Dayton.

One cool thing we learned was that Johnathan Dayton (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathan_Dayton) never actually set foot here, but the reason he got the city named after him, was because he was a signer of the Constitution. (Later research at home showed he was the youngest to sign).

It was informative and educational and somewhere both new and an event we have never done before.

And naturally I can't go anywhere without finding some good rust. Can we talk about this Lamp?!? I mean seriously! How freaking gorgeous!

Ive been sick with the same illness my husband had since Friday night.
All day Saturday was spent fighting a fever that finally broke Sunday morning.

Now it's Monday and I'm in the head cold phase of whatever this is. I'm still exhausted, but I know I'm not alone.

A good book, a puppy cuddle, and some warm blankets can make a huge difference.

Thanks for your patience during this hiatus.

Sorry I haven't posted anything in the last couple of days. Brandon has been home sick with the flu, Buggy has a sprained tail and is having issues. It's been a lot. Thanks for being patient with me.

That said, today is about Signs... no not the creepy alien movie that gave me nightmares when it came out (long story...that I am happy to tell in person), but signs around town. Every business has a sign. Some brand new, some older. Railroads have the best signs in my opinion. Proof shown here. What do you think? Can you find something better than this?

Found these in Yellow Springs a long time ago and I just think turning filing cabinets into planters and letting nature take its course is a wonderful idea. Plus the way I caught the light and the color! I'm going to brag on myself for a second! When you have good material to work with like these rusty cabinets, it's hard not to stop and stare.

I know my page is dedicated to humble rust, but I gotta take a moment and talk about God's Grace.
Without it, I literally wouldn't be alive.
I'm reminded of that whenever I see a sky as beautiful as this.
Life is beautiful, even in the dark, but His Light will always shine so you are never alone in that darkness.

This is a fun piece. A former coworker used to bring his dog in to the office, and on my lunch breaks, I would take him for a walk.
During one such walk, I found this beautiful piece. So naturally I stopped and took a picture.
I also picked it up and brought it home. It actually hangs on my wall above my desk.
Look it, lying there all okay with the world. I don't know how to explain it, but something just spoke to me.
