So this morning, Brandon and I attended the Ribbon Cutting ceremony of the NCR (National Cash Registers) Archives as part of Carillon Historical Park .
Proud to be a member and see this historical archive brought to life!

And of course, no adventure is complete without Rust!

Edit: I forgot to mention, but...Bill Gates was there and we sat only a few seats away from him.

Now I am a good wife (most of the time) and can give credit where it is due. I promised Brandon I would share his awesome pictures as long as he sent the ones he wanted.

Post 3. New River Gorge National Park and Preserve
The New River Gorge Bridge is a sight to behold. We went over it on the way to our next town, Nuttalburg. Also the fog after the rain was just incredible.

Nuttalburg was also beautiful. I'm only sad we did not catch a good view of the train as it rolled past. The sheer feat of building the conveyor that brought the coal from the mine at the top, 1400ft down to the tracks, is a marvel of engineering.

Thurmond is a fascinating place, and if money wasn't an issue, I'd buy one of the houses and completely renovate it, while keeping true to the history of the place. Take the time to read the Wiki on it.

Like many towns in the New River Gorge, it was a coal town. Yall, I cannot stress enough how beautiful it is there. THE BRIDGE! I could have stayed there all day and just watched the river.

Again, I won't share all the pictures, but I will if you ask.
Also, I wish with all my heart I could have gone into the bank. The giant safe is still there, sitting open like it was just yesterday emptied.

Post 1 of 4? Maybe 3? Maybe 5....we shall see! Your guess is as good as mine!

Anywhoooo. Brandon and I went on a short trip to investigate two abandoned towns in West Virginia. We are big fans of the TV show Mysteries of the Abandoned, and we decided to visit as many of the locations in America as we can.

That said, let me introduce you (for a start [post 1]) to Point Pleasant. Home of the Mothman. The only cryptid I find credible, and kinda believe in. Mothman is tied to real events and real places, more so than his cryptid cousins, Bigfoot and Chupacabra.

Point Pleasant is also the sight of the first battle of the Revolutionary War! Ya, I had no idea either. But for you history buffs, Shawnee Chief Cornstalk is buried here.

I wont share all the photos, but some of the better ones. I will share others if you ask.
