Please help us stop this project on the NW corner of I-4 and Hwy 44 in DeLand, FL.
My husband was diagnosed with Dementia in 2024. Needless to say it was devastating news, and I knew I wouldn't be able to keep up our home, and take care of him. My daughter suggested I look into a 55 and older community, for a low maintenance home, and to provide a safer environment for my husband to walk in while he is still able. We found the perfect place, Cresswind DeLand. It was a stressful and scary thing to do at our age, but we did it. This is a wonderful caring community of Seniors, all wanting to enjoy their golden years in our peaceful little corner of DeLand. It, the surrounding community and the environment around us are now threatened by this huge proposed Truck Plaza. The property will be less than 2000 feet from our home, and even closer to others in our community. We'll be able to hear their generators, horns and diesel engines 24/7. The lights, odors and ground pollution are other major concerns. East Hwy 44 already can't handle the existing traffic. I don't know about you, but I find our local population of Sandhill Cranes. I came across this interesting article about these facinationing creatures I thought others might also enjoy reading.
