Happy Labor Day!
A day to celebrate all the hard work that keeps our country going? A day for a barbecue? The unofficial last day is summer? All of the above?

We're on our way home from a nice little show in Indiana, where I met these lovely folks. Tuesday and Wednesday we'll be at home, then we're coming back to Indiana for Penrod on Friday night and Saturday!

I'm already tired, you guys. This past weekend we experienced a brutal 110 degree heat index during set up. It was almost as hot on Saturday, and yesterday I got a migraine during tear down. THIS IS NOT ME COMPLAINING I swear. Lol! I'm just a bit tired and evaluating the workload I've chosen for myself.

But even though I'm a tiny bit stretched today, I'm mostly grateful. Aaron and I are in this together, creating a great business we never dreamed of only a few years ago. We are healthy enough to pull this off, which is no small gift.

In our family we have a saying: "You've gotta work while the workin's work." It doesn't really make sense, but I think you get the gist of it.

Grateful I've got this work to work. 💪

This morning my husband wished me a happy anniversary, and I was confused for a second.
Our wedding anniversary was last week!

Then he said, "Happy seven years!" and I remembered why today is special.

It's been seven years since I had a drink of alcohol. Wow!

The fact that I'd forgotten tells you everything you need to know. 😊 Drinking was adding nothing to my life, and letting go allowed me to make room for so much more. I truly rarely think about it at all.

It's a glorious way to live.

If you're wondering what life might be like without booze, I highly recommend becoming "sober curious." That's what I did. You don't have to wear a label or consider yourself diseased. Start by considering how your life might improve, and go from there. If you want to chat about it, let me know. ❤️

40 years is a long time.

If you're going to get married - and stay married that long - I highly recommend marrying someone who makes you laugh, like I did. Aaron N. Adamkiewicz

Marriage will give you plenty to cry about. This man and I have shed enough tears to fill an ocean, for every reason you can imagine. We had every excuse to call it quits on many occasions. But we didn't, mostly because we're stubborn and competitive. And because God showered us with grace upon grace.

Yesterday we celebrated our 40th anniversary with our six children, 17 grandchildren, and lots of dear friends. We held in our hearts our daughter waiting for us in heaven and our two new grandbabies who will be arriving in the coming months.

That's a lot of people to love. ❤️

Yes, we are blessed beyond measure.

I'm so glad we said yes to one another, especially when it was hard. Each of our children spoke yesterday about how watching us navigating the sorrows of life has been significant to them. What a gift.

I can't wait to share photos soon of our luau-themed party! Today I'm just basking in the joy of it all... I'm simply the luckiest. 😊

This special couple deserves their own post.

I met Phil and Claudia at an art fair here in Metro Detroit a couple summers ago. They purchased one of my first large paintings, a semi-realistic scene with lots of blue hydrangeas, my favorite flower. They came back the next day for a pink and gold abstract that they couldn't stop thinking about. And so they began adding my paintings to their art collection in their beautiful home.

They have offered their support and encouragement since, not just by choosing my work, but by attending events and sharing their warmth and kindness.

Last weekend, they added not one but two more paintings to their collection, including this 48x48 for their dining room. I'm just overcome with gratitude.

Their amazing collection includes pieces from many artists, and I'm just so honored to be among them. Art supporters like this wonderful pair make such a difference in the lives of creatives! ❤️

We're in the homestretch!

Clifford the Big Red Van is getting tired, but he's showing up for us. After putting in over 3200 miles (so far!) over the last couple weeks, he's ready for a spa treatment when we get home.

We'll be passing through Indianapolis and Toledo today, so let me know if you'd like a visit from our mobile gallery! Seriously! We made stops in Kansas City and St. Louis to drop off paintings, and I'd love to do the same for you. 😊

And also, I can't wait to get home. ❤️🏡
