Today is the Moody Midnight Market where I will be taking pics and giving out goodies so what a better time than to re-introduce myself!

Hi! I’m Marissa! Not only am I a photographer , artist, & creative but I am also a dog mom, lover of sunsets and sometimes sunrises, snowboarding adventurer. I have been capturing memories and turning them into art for 10 years now and it still remains one of my passions in life. As a half Black half Filipina, I remember searching for photos when planning for my own wedding and feeling the lack of not only people who looked like me but also diversity within what was being represented in the industry which is why my philosophy and goal in both my art and business is to be inclusive and create the art people see themselves in. So I am so happy you’re here and following along on this journey and hope to have you, your love and your memories in front of my camera 📸

Some sessions just feel effortless. The world just slows down for a second and you get to witness two people completely wrapped up in each other. That was Sidi + Hayley’s beach session in Puerto Rico 🌴✨

We spent the sunrise running barefoot through the sand, chasing the first streams of golden light, laughing between waves, and letting the island do what it does best create magic. Allowing for movement, connection, salty air, windblown hair, and the kind of love that feels soft and alive all at once.

These are the moments I live for as a destination couples photographer. The in-between moments. The way Hayley looked at Sidi when he pulled her close. The way they completely forgot the camera was there and just existed together. Puerto Rico has this beautiful way of making people feel free, and their session reflected exactly that.

If you have followed me for a while then you know I have never shied away from being out spoken about where I stand politically and my views on social issues because too often those issues impact me directly, as an artist, as a q***r woman, and especially as a Black woman. Since 2020 I have been attending protests and documenting them because I believe it’s important to not only show up but to not let injustice happen in darkness but to drag it into the light.

So many times in this industry I have been told by privileged white professionals in our industry to “stay out of it.” “Keep quiet about your politics.” “That you can’t be successful if people see where you stand on social issues.” And I said f*ck that. I cannot proclaim I am for diversity and representation in my art and in this industry without being political because that statement is political and impacts so many people including myself and my relationships.

So in case anyone was confused let me make it clear:

Black Lives Matter
Trans kids lives matter
No one is illegal on stolen land
F*ck ICE and abolish it
Love is love
F*ck this administration

Photography is political because everything is political.

Its always so much fun when couples aren’t afraid the play in the rain ☔️ Rachel & Christian did just that while we had some fun with umbrellas by the end we were sprinting, spinning, and dancing in the rain. I cannot wait for their wedding this month where I get capture even more of their love and fun❤️
