Sunday and Monday look to be pretty big setups across the Midwest. Strong low-level wind shear mixed with high dew points and CAPE values between 3-4,000 will support premium storm fuel. With deep layer shear being ample, storms may become super-cellular in nature with all hazards-tornadoes, large hail, damaging winds.

This kitty really cheered me up on Monday night when I stopped at the Wayland, Missouri Flying J Travel Center. After a long day of driving and witnessing a complete bust of a severe weather event, I needed this!

He/she just strutted up to me, but wouldn’t get close enough to successfully pet. Hope to encounter more furry friends on these endeavors. 😂

Check out this Pileus cloud from earlier this month in Southern Minnesota!

They form when rapidly rising, moist air from a strong cumulus or cumulonimbus updraft forces a stable layer of air above it upward. As this upper air layer lifts and cools to its dew point, moisture condenses into a cap-like, wispy cloud atop the tower.

Pretty cool atmospheric oddity!
