Detroit is getting the largest urban equestrian center in the country, and it's built for kids.

The nonprofit Detroit Horse Power is turning 14 acres in the Hope Village neighborhood into a $13 million facility with stables for 17 horses, indoor and outdoor arenas, and classrooms.

It uses riding to teach city kids confidence and life skills, all for free, and expects to reach more than 1,000 students a year. It opens by the end of 2026.

Tony Hawk is opening a Detroit restaurant. The skateboarding legend is teaming with Detroit chef George Azar, of Flowers of Vietnam, on A Toda Madre, a Mexican spot at The Shepherd arts campus on the east side.

It comes with a terrace overlooking a public skatepark Hawk designed on the grounds. It's slated to open in early 2027.

Michelin is coming to Detroit, and its anonymous inspectors are already eating their way across the city.

Detroit is one of six cities in Michelin's new American Great Lakes edition. No stars have been handed out yet, the first ones get revealed at a Michelin ceremony in 2027.

For now, inspectors are dining incognito through the end of the year, so any Detroit restaurant could be in the running.

The Detroit Children's Museum is reopening to the public for the first time in 15 years.

Inside are new exhibits, a planetarium reopening later, and part of its 2.5 million-artifact collection.

After the grand opening, it's open free to the public on Community Days, the fourth Saturday of each month.

It reopens July 25, at 6134 2nd Ave.

Canada celebrated the Gordie Howe International Bridge with a ceremony in Windsor before the new crossing opens. 🇺🇸🇨🇦

The $6.4 billion bridge connects Detroit and Windsor. It opens to traffic Monday, July 27 at noon, and to walkers and cyclists Wednesday, August 5 at 8 a.m.

You'll need a passport or NEXUS card to cross.

Happy 325th birthday, Detroit. 🎂 Founded by the French on July 24, 1701, Detroit is older than the United States itself, by 75 years.

It grew up under three flags, French, British, then American, became a doorway to freedom on the Underground Railroad, put the world on wheels, and gave it Motown. 325 years in, still like nowhere else.

The Fisher Building, the 1928 Albert Kahn landmark known as Detroit's largest art object, is getting a $5 million restoration.

State grant money is repairing its ornate entrances, marble facades, and the hand-painted arcade ceiling, with the current phase wrapping up this year.

It's the first step in a proposed $100 million plan to revive the full building by 2027.

Cosm Detroit is bringing a 70,000-square-foot immersive venue to Cadillac Square, two blocks from Campus Martius.

The centerpiece is an 87-foot LED dome that wraps you in a 180-degree picture, so watching a Lions road game feels like sitting in the stadium.

It's set to open this fall, with September cited. Tickets aren't on sale yet, so the move is to join the waitlist.
