Happy red flower day! ❤️🌹

Randy, you are the cause of my euphoria. I’ve never loved someone as much as I love you. You’re not only my boyfriend, but my best friend, and I wouldn’t dare trade you for anyone else. You make me better. You make me stronger. You spark my soul. You understand me. You care for me in ways I hadn’t thought I’d ever be cared for. You make me happier than I ever thought I could be.

I fell for you and I’m still falling.
You are who I am living for.

Happy Valentine’s Day!💋

Mental health- Please, take the time to read my response after the photos.

It is so worth it on the other end. I’m still fighting each and everyday, some days worse than others, but I’m stronger than I was a year ago; stronger than I was yesterday. At the end of the day, I am proud of the person I have become. I am proud of the person I am still becoming. I’m proud of the way I healed. I am proud of the way I survived.

There is still a huge stigma around mental health; it is only with more education, awareness, and understanding can we begin to break down the barriers that exist to provide appropriate and medically necessary services to individuals who need help. Of the 9.9 million people that live in Michigan, close to 4.5% live with a serious mental health condition such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or major depressive disorder (according to SAMHSA). On a national level, the National Institute of Mental Health reports that one in four (57.7 million Americans) experience a mental health disorder in a given year. Mental illnesses are just as serious as a medical illness, and they cannot be overcome through will power; they are not related to a person’s character; just like a medical illness, they must be diagnosed and treated by a professional who can offer the best treatment for each diagnosis.

RESOURCES:
If you or a loved one needs help there are many resources in Michigan that can help:

TRIGGER ALERT: HUMAN TRAFFICKING
SEE SLIDES after photos for my personal response.

January is Human Trafficking awareness month, and with that, I along with several models decided to bring additional awareness to this difficult topic. I am going to warn you now that these images are not easy to look at; they are intended to capture the hopelessness and isolation that human trafficking survivors face on a daily basis when they are being trafficked. The hands were intended to capture the evil that exists in human trafficking. This shoot was incredibly emotional and raw as several of the individuals have known others who have survived human trafficking. - .photo
RESOURCES:
It can be difficult to reach out and ask for help if you are experiencing human trafficking: the Michigan Attorney General's Office has a list of available resources for individuals who may need help or for those looking to provide resources to someone who is in need of help: https://www.michigan.gov/ag/0,4534,7-359-82917_81399_81410---,00.html

Nationally, you can call (1-888-373-7888) or text (SMS: 233733) 24/7 to the National Human Trafficking Hotline to receive assistance (https://humantraffickinghotline.org/).

There are many local organizations as well that provide assistance:
https://www.michiganabolitionistproject.org/michigan-organizations/

Support groups also exist for survivors of Human Trafficking; such as those put on by Every Step Counts Ministry (https://everystepcountsministries.com/) in Port Huron, MI.

The State of Michigan has a wonderful resources on the Red Flags for the General Public to look for in identifying whether someone may be a victim of human trafficking:https://www.michigan.gov/documents/ag/Red_Flags_-_General_Public_598572_7.pdf

If you or someone you know and love needs resources, please reach out to the National Hotline or your local Community Mental Health office, and they should be able to provide you with resource for follow-up and assistance.
