HAPPY BIRTHDAY IN MEMORY OF KEITH HARING.

He turned my FrankenStrat into a painting in Montreaux Switzerland in 1983 where he was the official artist of the world famous Jazz Festival. I was already a huge fan of his Glowing Baby graffiti art in the NYC subways. I was playing with Ronald Shannon Jackson & The Decoding Society. I invited Keith to our show. He came through, and really enjoyed it. I asked if he would do a piece on my guitar- he invited me to his hotel, and he made the 2 figures on the body, then asked “You want me to sign it”? I was like Hell yeah! It was incredibly kind & generous of him to do so. I was heartbroken upon hearing of his passing in 1990 due to complications from AIDS, which also took the life of the great Arthur Rhames the year before. The music is Alice In The Congo, from the live Montreux concert Keith came to.
