There’s something about a wedding dress in the mountains that will always get me.

The beautiful and the untamed. Ch*****ne straight from the bottle. Boots under the dress. Wind in the veil. A quiet hand kiss in the middle of all that enormous landscape.

Romance doesn’t have to be precious.

Sometimes it looks better with a little dirt on it.

This Under the Stars session was a birthday present—and honestly, that’s a pretty great birthday present.

It was a hot summer night at Antlers on the Creek, the wind was doing whatever the hell it wanted, and I wasn’t mad about it.

Because that dress? The wind understood the assignment.

And now Craig is ordering this one as an acrylic print—which makes me ridiculously happy. ⭐️

“Congratulations” the cop said from the loudspeaker of his vehicle as Sarah and Spenser danced across the crosswalk in Telluride.
And he wasn’t the only one…so many smiles, nods, “you look beautiful!” and of course Congratulations! from the townspeople and visitors to Telluride.
This is what it looks like when an elopement becomes a great big embrace.

When I first met these three boys, I told them we had a deal.

It was really (really) important to their mom that we got ONE picture with everyone facing the camera and smiling.

And if we got it?

They could climb a tree.

Suddenly, I had three very motivated children. 😂

And we got it. Everyone looking. Everyone smiling. Even the dog understood the assignment.

So then?

Go climb the tree.
Go fish.
Run through the field.
Be yourselves.

Because I know that beautiful, everyone-looking-at-the-camera photograph matters. I’m a mom. I get it.

But I also know the photographs that tend to mean more and more as the years go by are the ones that remind you exactly who your kids were at that age.

How they played. What they loved. How they looked together before they grew another six inches and everything changed again.

So yes, we’ll get the picture for the Christmas card.

And then I’m setting the boys loose. ❤️
