April 18th, 2026, I was honored to capture Camp Odayin's 25th Birthday at the Have a Heart Benefit! Camp Odayin is a camp for kids with heart disease and I started in 2003 as a camper to now, I volunteer as a counselor and photographer. It was fun looking back at all the memorabilia of the shirts and other things while Camp Odayin was raising money for children with heart disease to attend a camp where all who come can feel normal for a week but also, meet friends who are like them. Thank you again, Camp Odayin!

I had to make a dynamic photo and I thought it would be great to do this on a cloudy day to really get the clouds to pop. My husband was having fun practicing with his bow and I was having a lot of fun practicing this technique! I am definitely going to continue this technique to get some really amazing photos for future clients!

It has been a while since I last posted so I will be posting a few posts with some different sessions I have done since the last post! Continuing my education at DCTC is so rewarding and I really have learned so much so I will also be posting some of my images from assignments I have done!

I had the privilege to be asked to capture the wonderful moments at the Heart and Hooves Horsemanship Liberty Demo, Ranch Riding, and Liberty Challenge that was held October 4th & 5th. It is always so great to see the handlers and horses build such a beautiful bond through groundwork and with riding. I enjoyed every minute watching everyone enjoy all the hard work they had done throughout the year. Thank You, Michelle, for opportunity to capture these moments!

Captured some great photos of the Northern Lights again tonight! I also did a cool night in the woods picture that turned out to be one of my top favorites for tonight’s captures! I will continue to chase the Northern Lights when they are dancing in the skies in Minnesota any chance I have! The thrill of it is great and I want to capture that picture perfect moment to share to the world! God makes some pretty amazing art and dances to share with us and I am blessed to be here to witness his glory in it!

Here is a photo from my camera; Nikon Z6ii, ISO 1600, f/4, 15second. I was hoping to have more colors like yesterday but I am proud to try using my camera today with settings that are more used for the Northern Lights. I will continue to chase after more opportunities to get an amazing photo of the Northern Lights but for a rookie in this realm of photography, I am pleased with what I captured! More practice in the future for a prolonged shutter speed to really get the images I envision. Posting more photos soon from what I captured on my phone!

Such an amazing thing to witness! I am not one to take photos at night but to witness God’s work of art, even in the city light pollution with your naked eye, is just so incredible!

Last three taken from Nikon Z6ii with no tripod. If I had my camera on a tripod, my images would have been a little less blurry but I’m happy with my results for tonight! I am not a night photographer but for Northern Lights, I am happy to shoot with what I have!

Whitetail Woods Regional Park never disappoints me! Before I really even got to hiking, a Cooper’s hawk flew right in front of me! That was really cool to see one so close and get a quick shot! I of course enjoyed the pollinators especially the monarch butterflies! I enjoyed just stopping for a moment and getting photos of them in flight! The prairie was so peaceful to look at! My goal was to look for a banded garden spider or a yellow garden spider but both I didn’t find… One day I will see one!
