The Refuse 2 Lose 24 at Lebanon Valley Speedway honored the man who gave me the ability to chase my photography dreams, Bobby Chalmers.

A part of the reason I felt motivated to create Ballard Creations was because of how mentally challenging it has been for me to work on photo albums for Race Pro Weekly without Bobby here. Bobby taught me so much about professionalism, journalism, social media and public relations. He was a coach, a mentor, and a leader to myself and so many of my peers - while being so selfless and never wanting credit for the impact he left on so many of our lives.

This is my first Lebanon Valley Speedway photo album since Bobby’s passing, and my first album since switching from Canon to Sony. I hope the boss likes this one!

Ballard Creations hit 100 followers on Facebook today. I am very grateful for each and every one of you who are following along this early in the journey.

I want to share how I designed the Ballard Creations logo.

When Bobby Chalmers asked me to start shooting photographs for Race Pro Weekly on December 31st, 2016 - he used this iconic “BC” logo on all of his images. 14 year old me thought this was the coolest logo on the internet. It had a really unique style that Bobby came up with.

For folks who have known me since I was a child in the orange bleachers of Lebanon Valley Speedway, my first favorite race car driver was JC Flach. JC carried this one of a kind, “sky blue” gradient within his iconic 77, with a yellow highlight surrounding the border. This color combo was a pillar of every decision I made in my art projects growing up. It really just stands out in my opinion.

I had a vision of combining and honoring the legacy of two of the most impactful humans that brought me into the sport of auto racing to start this new chapter of my career. The name change, and logo design came to me so easy, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out, and where it is going.

I mentioned on my personal page how I felt very moved to rebrand and launch Ballard Creations. A lot of big decisions I make are very thought out - probably too thought out, which causes hesitation and “what-ifs” - but not this one.

For those who may not know, my whole photography career, I wanted to make it to NASCAR. More than anything, being a NASCAR credentialed photographer was my ultimate goal. Bobby knew this when he brought me onto RPW. Fast forward 8 years to June 2025, I knew Bobby was sick, but I didn’t know the severity. He just helped me apply for my first NASCAR credential - the NASCAR truck series race at Lime Rock Park. One of the last texts I sent him was on July 7th, 2025. I had just published my first ever NASCAR album. The texts reads:

“Thank you again for the opportunity to be able to achieve my dreams. You've done so much for me since I was literally a child. I can't thank you enough”

10 days later, he passed away.

I owe my creative career to Bobby Chalmers. I felt so moved to launch this brand and take off on my next dream, and I know for a fact that is because of Bobby.

Thank you to the first 100 friends and family who clicked follow on this page. It really means more to me than I can express, and I will never forget the names of the first 100.

BIG NEWS!

After 9 years of exclusively shooting photography for Race Pro Weekly, I’m excited to announce a new chapter in my content creation journey!

Starting in 2026, Lucas Ballard Photos will officially be rebranded as Ballard Creations.

Ballard Creations will offer hybrid photo and video production.

What this means – Videography
As I continue to grow my knowledge and experience behind the camera - and with the way social media and consumers are evolving - Ballard Creations will now offer modern, high-impact marketing content for race teams and sponsors.

This includes:
• Short-form driver and team features
• Short-form sponsor highlight reels
• Cinematic 60 second “reel-style” videos showcasing the grassroots racing scene

What this means – Photography
I am not stepping away from Race Pro Weekly! I will continue shooting select events and providing photo albums for the site.

In accordance with track rules and out of respect for those who earn their share through photo sales, these images will not be for sale. This remains consistent with how I’ve operated over the past 9 years.

I’m incredibly excited for this next step and look forward to helping teams and sponsors gain a creative edge in how they market their brands!

DM me if you’re interested in learning more about services, and working together!
