These last five years of owning my own business have been a rollercoaster. The highs lows and everything in between have taught me so much.

Working my own hours at my own pace and doing whatever I want is great and all but the responsibility that comes with it definitely makes it a harder path that what it may seem. That said I wouldn’t change it for the world. I can’t believe I am here at this point in my life. The little kid Mayanthi who wanted to be an artist would be so proud!

This year has been harder than the past few but I just know that I will keep evolving and keep building and learning how to make bigger impact while also being able to live the life of my dreams.

There is something so powerful in trusting yourself.

Don’t give up yall. It is worth the hard work!

One thing that always motivates me to keep going when it gets hard is that you never know who you are inspiring along the way.

Once my nieces started getting older they have continued to say, in a family full of the most incredible professionals, that they want to be artists when they grow up. Their love and admiration for the arts and its value is something so pure and I am determined to show them that it is possible. Even if they don’t actually become full time artists like me, I hope that their belief and wonder never fade to know that they can do ANYTHING they set their minds to. And I hope that they always have art as an outlet and practice.

Lakay means home in Creole and it was such an honor adding this mural to my wonderful clients home.

From our first phone call I felt so connected to my client. We immediately clicked over our mutual passion for public health and community advocacy. Her design spoke to my heart. Her goal was to bring a little bit of her Haitian background as a welcoming to her home. I absolutely loved dreaming this up with her.
