It’s about finding beauty in simplicity. It seems fitting in Winter when landscapes tend to be a little more understated and a quiet settles in after the big holiday season.

From my collection, this is: "Rockland Lobster Trap Tree"

Built from wire lobster traps, this particular tree was 70 feet tall. Most people notice the lobster on the top of the tree, but don't realize the tree itself is made of lobster traps. This is a custom along the coast of New England. Sometimes it seems like a competition between coastal towns. Some trees are made from wooden traps, some from buoys. Each one, in its own way, captures some of the local coastal character. This tree was located in Rockland, Maine.
