Before I left on my trip to Florida, I photographed Bailee and her horse, Hemi for a model call I put out! For location, we decided on Elijah Bristow State Park in Dexter, OR. The weather was iffy but we decided to try it anyways! I'm so glad we decided to chance it, as we had perfectly cloudy skies (which makes for fantastic lighting for photos!) Bailee and Hemi were wonderful models for me, and I was able to deliver many beautiful photos!

Hemi is a wonderful example of how grooming is SO important during your photoshoot! As you can see in these photos, even with a winter coat he looks clean and shiny. His socks are white, and his mane and tail are brushed and trimmed! A good bath the day before your photoshoot goes a long way, and makes for an easier time grooming right before your session. This goes especially for equine portraits. I can work some photoshop magic to an extent, but when you're making the investment for high quality fine art to last you a lifetime, a horse with show-ready turnout will make your galley the best it can be!

This past week I flew across the country to attend an equine portraiture workshop in Wellington Florida! This workshop was hosted by J.Klein Photos who has been my biggest inspiration for the past three years. It was a dream come true to be able to have this opportunity to learn from such a skilled, successful photographer and businesswomen! I also had the pleasure of meeting many other amazing women who are also incredibly inspiring to me. I am eternally grateful to have gotten this opportunity and to have made all of these connections 🫶

Over the course of three days we spent many hours learning in the classroom about business, posing, assistants, websites, fine art, editing, and more! Then we had the pleasure of getting to visit two beautiful facilities to watch Jesse work and photographed 10 horses ourselves. I feel that I’ve learned and grown so much in many ways, in such a short amount of time. I’m so eager and excited to implement everything I’ve learned into my business and photography.

The past 6 months I’ve felt like I hit a plateau and have dealt with a lot of imposter syndrome, questioning my abilities. Especially with being young, and taking the risk of pursuing what I love, instead of going to college or the like. Learning from Jesse and getting to talk to other photographers has helped me so much, and has made me realize my own worth!
I can’t wait to experience the next steps in my journey.

Every time I’ve gotten a new camera or lens, I always have to test it on my dog in the backyard! Some of my favorite photos are still frames of a “zoomie” episode😆 So of course today I had to test out my new zoom lens on Jelly!! 🐶

🐴Seeking 1-2 horse and rider duos for a creative photoshoot in exchange for images!

My vision for this photoshoot is a magical and cinematic gallery featuring a rider wearing a long and flowy dress with their horse. Images will include ba****ck riding at a walk/trot/canter. Location will be within 45 minutes of Eugene OR with rider input. Shoot date is flexible within the month of February.

✅ REQUIREMENTS

- Female rider ages 15-29 (parent/guardian required for minors)
- Must have access to a safe and sound horse that is comfortable standing, posing and being ridden ba****ck w/t/c
- Horse and rider transportation to shoot location
- Must be comfortable and confident riding ba****ck at a w/t/c
- Rider provides wardrobe (style and color of choice)
- Hair and makeup done (professional not required)
- Horse must be well groomed
- Signed model release required

Bonus (but not required)
- Unique coat color or breed
- Equine trained in liberty work or tricks
- Decorative tack (silver western headstall or jeweled english browband)
- Bridleless or neck-rope training (safely and at owners discretion)

Watch me as I edit an equine portrait! This is 1 hour of footage condensed to a little over a minute. As you can see in the video, it’s all about the details! In all of my portrait photos, backgrounds are drawn in by hand and all the little details are added back in by hand. These portraits are all about the details, so you can display these in your home on large prints and canvases! There are a lot of steps to making one of these photos, but it’s always so worth it in the end once you see the finished result! :)
