Holy work ✨

These best friends of ours had their first baby just a handful of weeks after I had baby six. They were baby besties right away and I’ll share that sweetness in my stories today. When I happened upon a free weekend the same week this little cherub was born, I made the five hour trek to bear witness to the holy work that postpartum is.

It’s raw and vulnerable. It’s a season where you’re balancing self care with self sacrifice. Goodness, my beautiful friend wears it so well.

As I washed dishes and stirred a giant pot of chicken and rice soup for their freezer, I was reminded how beautifully raw this season is. I recalled my own postpartum seasons and the people who cared for me. I remembered the weight of holding motherhood while stretching my heart across many little beings.

It’s holy work.

It’s also one of my favorite moments to document. It’s such a gift to offer mamas tangible evidence that all of this laboring was not in vain.

Thank you for giving me the great honor of witnessing sweet baby Beck’s first days of life, my dear friend. I love you all so much ❤️😭

A miracle fifteen years in the making 😭

What an incredible honor to witness my fierce friend carry the life of this beautiful boy for her dear friends. A reminder once again that women’s bodies hold the most breathtaking design.

I remember when she asked us to pray that this transfer would take. I remember the weight of hope in her voice, knowing how many years of longing and loss her friends had already endured. Grief upon grief. Yet she believed.

I remember sitting on my couch, praying over Candace for a sticky baby. That moment became the first of many answered prayers. And as the months rolled on, I saw the joy on her face as she carried this blessing. Nearly nine months of wonder that I will never forget.

It wasn’t in the original plan for me to document this moment, but a few weeks ago everything shifted. More prayers. More anticipation than words could ever measure. And then this tiny warrior, all six teeny pounds of him, decided Thanksgiving dinner sounded like the perfect arrival. He gave us a reason to be truly thankful this year.

When his first cries filled the room, every eye glimmered with tears. Joy poured out from every face around him.

Gideon had arrived. And he was worth every single moment that led to this one.

God is good 🙏
