I want you to think about the last time you actually touched some grass. 🌱How about the last time you walked barefoot in it? Maybe the last time you touched a tree or felt soil between your fingertips? 🌎

For some of us, this may be a relatively recent or common experience. For some of us, it’s been TOO long. If the latter sounds like you— I invite you this weekend to do something for your soul ☀️:
🥾go out on your own nature walk or hike
🧺have a picnic in the grass
🌳visit a garden/arboretum
🐾take your pet to a trail
🐚go beachcombing
🌊cold plunge in nature
🪴go to a nursery and buy a new plant
🧘🏽‍♀️meditate/yoga under a tree or in a quiet outdoor spot
🏃🏻‍♀️take your workout outdoors
🚴‍♀️go on a bike ride
📖read or journal in the grass

As a wildlife/nature photographer and fly angler, I find myself in direct contact with the elements quite frequently— often wading waist high in water, laying belly-flat on both sand and dirt, climbing rocks and trees, working my way through bushes and leaves. I feel blessed to have a strong connection and sense of grounding; it’s easy for me to recognize when it’s been too long indoors or at work. For me, this manifests as burnout and an overall feeling of disconnect. Connectivity often refers to the relationship we all have with nature, and is one we must build upon for our wellbeing, as both stewards of this planet and animals of this Earth.

If it’s got a red warty beak, odds are you’re looking at a Muscovy duck: native to South America and the only species of duck not descended from Mallards 🚫🦆 The red bumps are called caruncles, which grow as they age and fight with one another, as well as assist in keeping the ducks feathers clean when dabbling in mud.
Also, it technically still is Wednesday here in TX so here’s a late night post for ya! •

Ring-tailed lemurs belong to the prosimian primates group. They are considered to be the most endangered group of animals, as they are only found naturally on Madagascar. Crazy to visualize, but they were once as large as gorillas even. Lemurs have two tongues: one main tongue for eating, and a second beneath for grooming. •

You are looking at a Texas pre-spawn bass. Spawning, which is the external method of reproduction in fish, typically occurs for bass when the waters in Texas hit about 60. Factors such as oxygen levels, food supply, temperature, and even the angle of the sun’s rays come into play when locating bass each season. Interestingly enough, since I am fairly new to fishing, I learned that Largemouth bass are not at all related to true basses and are in fact members of the sunfish family.
This is 1 of 2 fish that my little brother Kevin was able to land while I visited. Got the old skunk, but was able to teach and spend time with him, as well as actually SEE a fish (since here in Virginia it doesn’t seem like we’ll see better days anytime soon) •
