✨ Artist Spotlight – Dakota Brushworks ✨
Dakota Brushworks was born from a love of creating across a variety of mediums and surfaces. From clay pots and wood slices to raw canvas, each piece offers a new opportunity to explore creativity. While art has always been part of my life, I started Dakota Brushworks a few years ago with a more focused and dedicated approach.
Right now, my favorite pieces to create are detailed drawings on natural wood slices. I enjoy working with the grain of the wood and allowing its texture to complement the artwork. There's something special about blending nature's design with my own.
One thing that surprised me about starting a business is that success rarely happens overnight. It takes many shows, many sales, and plenty of mistakes along the way. For me, quality has always been what keeps people coming back.
If you're visiting my table, be sure to take a look at my larger wood slice drawings, especially those inspired by the outdoors. Walleye, northern pike, trout, and eagle designs are among my favorite pieces and showcase the detailed style I enjoy creating most.
My work is inspired by clean, flowing lines and the peaceful feeling that comes from creating. Time spent at my easel is my Zen time.
One of my most popular items continues to be my hand-painted bee and dragonfly terra cotta pots, featuring detailed, eclectic designs that bring a touch of art to any space.
Something many people don't know is that before the paintbrush became my primary artistic tool, photography was my creative outlet. I also attended VCSC—before it became VCSU—as an art student, where my artistic journey continued to grow.
This month, I'm especially excited to share my 4x6 cradle board drawings. These fun, detailed pieces offer a unique way to bring original artwork home at an affordable price.
