A not-so-brief story time: why I’m so emotionally invested in Glickenhaus and the SCG004 and why I’m so thrilled customer deliveries will begin this year.

Many many years ago, it came to pass that friends/ acquaintances of mine were involved in the beginnings of the commercial efforts to sell Glickenhaus road cars. A family I’d gotten to know through the car scene that had been wonderfully inviting and generous to me was potentially going to become involved in a major way. At that point, I had followed Jim’s collecting and racing exploits for years and tremendously admired both his entrepreneurial nature and genuine automotive enthusiasm. As an enthusiast, there isn’t much more exciting than building a purpose-built supercar brand from scratch, so I wanted to be as involved as possible.

While my opportunity for involvement never materialized, I did get the chance to facilitate the initial connection between the Glickenhaus team and a future SCG004 Founders Edition owner. A connection that I suspect would have eventually happened organically, perhaps, but nonetheless was a fun connection to make. It made me feel “involved”, even if only peripherally so.

As a result of this, I was treated to a few opportunities to engage with Jim himself across a couple different events. I should preface this by saying I was a really nobody as far as Jim and team were concerned - I wasn’t a potential owner, an investor, or anything of the sort. Nonetheless, Jim went out of his way to greet myself and my wife, chat with us, and thank us for coming.

The graciousness and true enthusiasm for the work he was doing came through clearly, and I have such fond memories of those conversations.

So, I have a soft spot Glickenhaus and I’m extremely excited for the team and the Founders Edition owners who will take delivery of their cars in 2026. The aforementioned car isn’t coming to the Dallas area anymore, but hopefully I’ll get a chance to see it someday. It’s been a long time coming, but I’m sure it will have been worth the wait.

I didn’t shoot much in 2025. Or 2024. Or 2023, really. Would love to turn that trend around, but it’s probably not in the cards for 2026 either. I DO, however, have a lot of fun stuff in the archives that I’ve never shared that I’m going to try to share regularly.

Because it’s mostly 2022 and earlier, it’s not the “latest and greatest” super mega duper hypercars, it’s not fake car negotiation Tik Tok rage bait, and it’s not SVJs bouncing off the rev limiter in a parking lot. But if you like genuinely like cars outside of a social media echo chamber, you might like some of it.

With that, here are a few photos of one of the few cars I photographed in 2025: the Derek Bell Signature Edition 962. A small run of these was planned, I believe, but this was the only one ever made. Based on a FabCar built aluminum monocoque originally destined for IMSA competition, it was redirected for road use and fitted with a modified version of the 993 GT’s (or GT2) 3.6L air-cooled flat-6.

It’s been off the road for a while, but I suspect it will be back up and running shortly if it isn’t already, which is a great thing.
