Honestly don’t even know how to start this post because I am so deeply saddened and upset by the state of our world and the precautions we have to take now...

Social media isn't a safe place for photos of children anymore and we need to talk about it.

The fact that we live in a world where AI can be used to exploit children in horrendous ways and arguments being made that this should be protected under the First Amendment, is absolutely sickening to me.

I’ve been a photographer for almost 10 years. Today I spent HOURS going through my website and social media and removing photos of children because I no longer feel comfortable leaving their faces publicly accessible.

And that honestly broke my heart.

These are innocent photos. Photos of kids being kids. Smiling faces, crying faces, their silly faces and all the emotions that I love to document.
But unfortunately, we live in a world where we have to think about what someone else could do with those images. So moving forward, I will be blurring the faces of children in my photography to help protect them.

My website and portfolio are going to look a little incomplete while I work through everything. There are years and years of photos that I have to go back through, and it's going to take time. For now they are just deleted but eventually they will be replaced with blurred out faces.... I would rather have an incomplete website than knowingly put a childs safety at risk. I hate that this is something we even have to worry about.

Even when releases have been signed by parents giving me permission to share these photos. Im choosing to take their privacy and safety a little more seriously. Blurring their faces won’t eliminate every risk, but it’s a step I can take and one I feel is worth taking.

Their memories deserve to be captured. Their privacy deserves to be protected.

I can do both. ❤️
