Back at the beginning of March I had the privilege of coming together with 25 other artists and cultural leaders from the US and Canada for a week long Creative Climate Leadership course organized by Julie's Bicycle. It was the week right before the covid-19 shut down began, and what a gift that week was. One of my fellow participants, Claude Schryer of conscient, recorded a series of conversations with participants which he has just published.
Ask yourself: what are you? What do you, as an artist, want to perpetuate in the world? Is what you're doing perpetuating the values and the culture that you want to see?

Hello
My name is Eliana Dunlap. I’m 26 years old. I’m a nomadic, multidisciplinary artist who wanders around this beautiful and magnificent planet trying to make sense of it all. For the moment I live in Boston, MA, USA.
A few things about me: I love long train rides, stormy weather, and pine forests. I like to cook, especially for other people. I’m a night owl. My favorite time of day is early morning. I like standing on chairs because it makes me feel tall. I like flat graphic art like Japanese block prints and those old school national park posters. I like to watch anime. I’m a slow reader. My favorite author is Daniel Quinn. I care about the planet and the climate crisis more than most things and sometimes I struggle to reconcile that with my nomadic life. Being a circus artist makes me feel both powerful and fragile at the same time. I love my dog.
Lately I’ve been focusing on the cultural narratives embedded in my work and in the social world around me, and how those narratives can be reimagined to create a better world for organisms of all kind. You can check out my website to find my portfolios and recent projects. In addition I also head a collaborative project called the Circus Action Network that explores what it means to make circus that is socially and environmentally engaged. If you have any questions, feedback, want to collaborate or just want to say hi, please get in touch, I’m always happy to hear from you.
