I didn't want to get up at 4:23am this morning, but a tornado warning is a tornado warning. The text and call log from WeatherCall this morning. The warning was issued at 4:23am and I got the call without delay. If you don't want to subscribe to a excellent service for pennies a day, that's on you. 20 minutes later I could barely hear the sirens in the distance. Isolated strong storms may produce gusty winds and hail across the Upper Midwest and parts of the central Plains. Additional strong thunderstorms may produce damaging wind gusts from north Texas/southern Oklahoma through portions of the Gulf Coast states and into the coastal Carolinas.

* AT 423 AM CDT, A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A TORNADO
WAS LOCATED NEAR MINERAL WELLS, MOVING EAST AT 20 MPH.

HAZARD...TORNADO.

SOURCE...RADAR INDICATED ROTATION.

IMPACT...FLYING DEBRIS WILL BE DANGEROUS TO THOSE CAUGHT WITHOUT
SHELTER. MOBILE HOMES WILL BE DAMAGED OR DESTROYED.
DAMAGE TO ROOFS, WINDOWS, AND VEHICLES WILL OCCUR. TREE
DAMAGE IS LIKELY.

Storm chances will increase this evening into Friday across North and Central Texas. The better potential for strong to locally severe storms and heavy rain is expected this evening with development along the dryline west of I-35. Storm coverage increases overnight into Friday morning as a cold front moves southward through North Texas. Additional scattered storms may develop Friday afternoon, but the exact location and coverage will depend on where the front and any leftover storm boundaries end up.

Isolated to scattered severe thunderstorms remain likely from Kentucky and the central Appalachians to the Mid-Atlantic, with primarily damaging wind gusts or marginal hail. Scattered severe storms are possible from upstate New York into New England, with damaging wind gusts and tornado potential. A few tornadoes may also occur over parts of the middle Gulf Coast and southeast states, and scattered storms may produce damaging winds or marginal hail from Oklahoma into western North Texas.
