The Al Hanouneh Dabke & Performance troupe came to Richardson to showcase their Palestinian cultural heritage through dabke (type of arab dance) and other methods of interpretive dance/performance. Their performance uses the dance and artistry to tell familiar stories of Palestinian life and heritage as singers and musicians use song and rhythm as the backdrops for the stories. I had the honor of photographing this event. Enjoy!

CALLING ALL DABKE FANS: A performance by renowned traditional folkloric society Al Hannouneh is headed to the Charles W. Eisemann Center for Performing Arts this week! What a great precursor to our event this weekend.

Specializing in dramatic choreography, music and dabke dance, Al Hannouneh seeks to preserve Palestinian culture and identity through artistic expression. Their performance in Richardson will be the sixth stop on an eight-city tour in the United States, including Montclair, New Jersey; Alexandria, Virginia; Raleigh and Charlotte in North Carolina; Houston, Texas; and San Diego and Downey
in California.
