I want to share something a little personal today.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know how much I truly love the art of photography. It has never just been about taking pictures for me. It is about storytelling, communication, and capturing moments that actually mean something.

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about how much the world and the photography industry has changed. Honestly, most industries feel saturated right now. Social media has flooded us with more information, more content, more trends, and more pressure than ever before. It constantly feels like you have to keep up with the latest and greatest thing.

If I’m being honest, it can feel exhausting.

There are so many sessions I have photographed that I have never even posted. Not because they were not beautiful, but because putting your work out into the world can feel incredibly vulnerable. It is so easy to compare yourself to others. Some days I question everything and feel like throwing in the rag and being done with it.

But every time I feel that way, there is always an inner voice that tells me to keep going.

Because photography still matters.

More than ever, what I want to capture is authenticity. Real people. Real emotion. Real life. I think a lot of us are getting tired of the fake, filtered version of the world we constantly see online. I know I am.

The truth is, the world feels a little scary right now. Some days mentally I am not at my best, and pretending everything is perfect all the time just does not feel honest anymore.

Something else that means a lot to me is that I actually went to school for photography and I am proud of that. Not because it makes me better than anyone else, but because it taught me so much more than how to use a camera. It taught me about ethics, storytelling, discipline, and the responsibility that comes with documenting people’s lives.

Photography is not just pressing a button. It is understanding people.

So I want to say thank you to the people who have trusted me to photograph their lives. If you have booked with me, supported my work, or even just followed along, I appreciate you more than you probably know.

You are the reason I keep doing this.

I do not want to just take photos to fill a feed. I want to capture real life, real love, and real stories.

And if that is the kind of photography you value too, then I would love to photograph your life.

Thank you for being here. šŸ¤

Thought I’d reintroduce myself for anyone new here.

Hi, I’m Erin, the photographer behind Erin Bernius Photography. I specialize in intimate weddings, elopements, maternity, and fine art portraits.

My style is true-to-color and timeless. I’m drawn to the quiet in-between moments, the laughter that happens naturally, and the parts of a day that end up meaning the most years later.

Photography, to me, is about creating images that feel effortless and lasting.

Sam & Kevin

There’s something special about photographing your friend you’ve known since college marrying the love of her life.

It’s moments like these that make me feel so grateful that I am part of one of the biggest events in their life.

Thank you for trusting me šŸ„¹šŸ«¶šŸ»

Art Over Ordinary.

Anyone can take a photo.
But not everyone can make you feel something when you look at it years from now.

I don’t just document moments.
I compose them.
I chase light.
I wait for the in-between.

Because ordinary fades.
Art lasts.

This was my first year setting up at the Idaho Wedding Expo and I’m so happy I did. I met so many awesome couples and vendors. I’m eager to see what this year brings!

Behind the scenes, I couldn’t have done it without the support of my parents - helping me load and unload everything, and just their moral support in general.

I’m still accepting a few more weddings for this year! So reaching out sooner than later is best as I am filling up! šŸ’•šŸ“ø

Tatum & Austin ā™„ļø

These two tied the knot on the Oregon coast, surrounded by their parents and siblings. A few months later, they gathered their closest family and friends for an intimate celebration and it couldn’t have felt more them.

Fun fact: I used to babysit Tatum. Getting to photograph her wedding reception felt genuinely surreal in the best way. I’m endlessly grateful to be trusted with some of life’s most intimate moments.

And honestly… I just adore this family. Always have and always will.

This is how I would probably talk to you if you were my sister. šŸ˜‚ Kidding, but really.

I help guide you through the session so your fingers don’t look so fingery.

In all seriousness, if you get camera shy I am here to guide you. I am a photographer and I still feel weird in front of the camera, so I totally get it. A lot of my clients walk away saying how comfortable they feel and that’s the best compliment ever!!

I really was photographing my sister though!

I’ve been going through past photo sessions since the new year has been a bit slower and I had to reshare this image. I love photographing women in their motherhood, it’s empowering to say the least. āœØšŸ¤

I’m excited for all of the maternity sessions I have booked so far this year. There are so many mommas to be!

How did your uncle’s iPhone 15 do for you? šŸ˜‚
Kidding. Not kidding.

Professional photos still matter, even in a world full of AI and filters. What matters most is having images that actually feel like something, that stand the test of time, and don’t get lost in your camera roll.

I’m grateful for clients who understand the difference between a snapshot and something intentional. And if you’re not there yet? That’s okay. You don’t need convincing, you’ll know when it matters.
