Tree of Aurora. You know when everything just sort of aligns all together, and all at once? 😅 On Sunday morning, I had seen some posts in a group that were talking about the potential for the Northern Lights to make an appearance. Later that night, at around 10:30pm or so, someone had posted a graphic showing just how far south they were reaching, and it seemed to go all the way down to the bottom of Illinois. Our area had been cloudy all day, but when I stepped outside and checked the northern sky, it had cleared up. Not really thinking anything of it, I put a fresh battery in my Nikon, and took a walk down to the river. Nothing seemed to be happening, until I went to focus my camera. I have a 'low light' feature that lights up the surrounding area on my LCD screen, and I noticed a faint green on the horizon. I immediately started freaking out and tried to set up my composition in the dark. Before I knew it, the sky was pulsating towards me in very faint greens/blues and reds/purples. This was my first time seeing the Aurora, and it was the most magical experience I've ever had. When they say that they dance, they really do. Here is the first image of many from this massive kp8 storm on 4/23/23! Really hope you guys enjoy this one and have a great start to your weekend!
