Got to check “first dance with a fog machine” off my wedding photographer bucket list last weekend 🙌🏻 Congratulations to A & J on a truly EPIC wedding, and a new chapter in their beautiful love story! 💍🩵

In a world full of sh*tty people, I feel SO lucky to have this job because it leads me to meeting absolute gems of human beings - a much-needed reminder that there *are* good-hearted folks out there. A & J are the type of people who just radiate warmth and kindness. They’re strong individuals and even stronger as a couple. And it’s so easy to see how they’ve built such a loving community around them, who support their union wholeheartedly.

Salem, Massachusetts engagement sessions will forever have my heart 🖤✨

If you’re looking for an engagement photo location that feels romantic, unique, and a little unconventional, Salem truly has everything — historic streets, coastal views, gorgeous architecture, hidden alleys, waterfront docks, cozy restaurants, and that unmistakable witchy charm that makes Witch City so iconic. 🌙

One of my favorite things about planning a Salem MA engagement shoot is how versatile the city is. You can wander through downtown for moody, editorial-style portraits, stop by the harbor for dreamy sunset photos like these, and then end the evening grabbing drinks or dinner together afterward. It turns your engagement session into an actual date night experience instead of just “taking photos.” 🤍

And pro tip for couples considering a Salem engagement session: spring is SUCH an underrated time to go. You still get all the charm and atmosphere Salem is known for, but with fewer crowds, easier parking, and a much more relaxed experience compared to peak fall season.

For couples who love history, coastal New England vibes, alternative aesthetics, or just want engagement photos that feel different from the typical field-at-sunset session… Salem might honestly be the perfect fit.

If you’re dreaming of a coastal Rhode Island wedding but not the Newport price tag… might be your place 🤍

Mary & Jim’s March wedding here was the perfect example of what this venue does so well—beautiful waterfront views, an incredible team, and a day that just felt easy from start to finish.

They had their hearts set on an outdoor ceremony, but with the chilly temps, the Harbor Lights staff pivoted seamlessly and set everything up inside their open-air pavilion (aka the perfect in-between). Guests stayed warm, the ocean views were still there, and the vibe? Still exactly what they envisioned.

And then the sunset painted the sky a lovely pink hue that matched the bridal party…and the dance floor stayed packed all night…and it just turned into one of those weddings you wish you could bottle up and relive ✨

Here's your sign to skip the big wedding, elope at City Hall & explore your favorite city as newlyweds with your photographer 😍

That's what K & J did, and it couldn't have been more perfect. The standout feature of New Bedford City Hall is its historic cage elevator, which made a unique photo opportunity. After the vows were spoken, rings exchanged & tears shed, we took to the cobblestone streets for some epic portraits, and had such a blast!

New Bedford is kinda the city where my artistic career first began, so it was surreal to come here with actual clients and document the most important day of their lives. Plus, I've known K for a long time, so this elopement was extra special to me 💜 Congrats to these two incredible humans! 💍

Time for a re-intro! 👋

For anyone who's new here, I'm Ariana (Ari for short), the owner, lead photographer, marketing manager and office supervisor of Ari Marie Photography. And those are just a few of my titles/hats 😂 I'm fueled by Dunks and Starbucks, music, sunshine, good conversation, and dreams of giving my dog the yard she deserves.

I always knew I wanted to do something creative with my life. Graphic design was the OG career plan, but after my first college photography class, I knew there was no going back. Documenting life with a camera became my passion. I took it and ran with it.

Weddings weren't my main area of interest, though, until I got my first solo gig opportunity in February 2021 - photographing a relaxed, intimate COVID wedding with only 10 people present. I LOVED being part of that day, and knew I wanted more. That's when I started really "niching down" and building the foundation for the brand you see here today.

My photography work is for the couples who value authenticity over staged "perfection," who are bored by cookie-cutter weddings and want something deeply personal and unique instead, who want to feel when looking back at their photos, and who just can't wait to gather all their loved ones in the same room.

Backyard wedding or traditional venue… which one is actually right for you?

Backyard weddings bring a level of intimacy and personalization that’s hard to beat—think meaningful locations, total creative freedom, and moments soaked in nostalgia and hominess. But they also come with added logistics, rentals, and weather “what ifs.”

Traditional venues, on the other hand, offer a more seamless, stress-free experience with built-in support, structure, and backup plans—just with a bit less flexibility and a higher upfront cost.

I’ve seen both done beautifully (and even combined!), and it really comes down to what matters most to you:

There’s no wrong answer…just YOUR answer.
